A headspace capillary gas chromatography method was established for the determination of methanol, acetone, isopropanol, acetonitrile, dichlormethane, hexane, ethyl acetate and toluene in risperidone. A DB-624 capillary column was used with temperature program and FID detector, at injection temperature of 85 ℃ and equilibrium time of 20 min. The calibration curves of these solvents were linear in the concentration ranges of 9 - 900, 15 - 1 500, 15 - 1 500, 1.2 - 120, 1.8 - 180, 0.9 - 90, 15 - 1 500 and 2.7 - 270 µg/ml, respectively. The recoveries were 99.4%, 96.4%, 104.4%, 99.7%, 96.3%, 96.3%, 97.1% and 96.8%, with RSDs less than 2.5%.
